{"abstract":"The occurrence of a pneumothorax in a 4-week-old infant is described. The cause of the problem is believed to have been a kink in the silastic reservoir tube. The failure of the monitors to detect the event and methods of improving safety are discussed. Difficulties may occur even with familiar equipment; the value of full monitoring and constant vigilance are stressed.","identifiers":{"pmid":"8829947"},"stats":{"readers":0,"discipline":[],"country":[],"status":[]},"issue":"2","pages":"143-146","publication_outlet":"European Journal of Anaesthesiology","type":"Case","uuid":"6da39fd0-6d08-11df-936c-0026b95e484c","authors":[{"forename":"M A","surname":"Sabar"},{"forename":"K F","surname":"Teale"},{"forename":"J M","surname":"Fryer"}],"title":"Tension pneumothorax during ventilation via Ayre's T-piece.","volume":"13","year":1996,"oa_journal":false,"mendeley_url":"http:\/\/api.mendeley.com\/research\/tension-pneumothorax-during-ventilation-via-ayres-t-piece\/"}

{"abstract":"This article examines the social network maintained by former kibbutzniks living in Los Angeles, in relation to their cultural and ethnic roots, against a background of transnationalism, using a qualitative approach and life-history methodology. The findings indicate that this population constitutes a unique subgroup with a common internal language and clear boundaries separating them from the rest of society. The study shows that kibbutz-reared Israeli immigrants set up a social network characterized by intensive multiplex ties that provides practical and emotional support but at the same time decreases their desire to integrate into the new country.","website":"http:\/\/jce.sagepub.com\/cgi\/doi\/10.1177\/0891241602031001003","identifiers":{"issn":"08912416","doi":"10.1177\/0891241602031001003"},"stats":{"readers":2,"discipline":[{"id":23,"name":"Social Sciences","value":100}],"country":[{"name":"United States","value":100}],"status":[{"name":"Researcher (at a non-Academic Institution)","value":50},{"name":"Professor","value":50}]},"issue":"1","pages":"68-94","publication_outlet":"Journal Of Contemporary Ethnography","type":"Journal Article","publisher":"SAGE Publications","uuid":"e1763d40-6d09-11df-a2b2-0026b95e3eb7","authors":[{"forename":"N","surname":"Sabar"}],"title":"Kibbutz L.A.: A Paradoxical Social Network","volume":"31","year":2002,"categories":[275,434],"oa_journal":false,"mendeley_url":"http:\/\/api.mendeley.com\/research\/kibbutz-la-paradoxical-social-network\/"}

{"abstract":"Cheng, Canuto, and Howard have presented a second-moment closure PBL model that appears to overcome some of the shortcomings of the existing Mellor and Yamada-type closure models. This note demonstrates that with a slight readjustment in the closure constants of the latter, more specifically the Kantha and Clayson closure model, they can be made to yield results very much similar to that of the Cheng et al. model.","website":"http:\/\/journals.ametsoc.org\/doi\/abs\/10.1175\/1520-0469%282002%29059%3C1550%3AAIMFTT%3E2.0.CO%3B2","identifiers":{"issn":"00224928","doi":"10.1175\/1520-0469(2002)059<1550:AIMFTT>2.0.CO;2"},"stats":{"readers":21,"discipline":[{"id":7,"name":"Earth Sciences","value":57},{"id":11,"name":"Engineering","value":19},{"id":12,"name":"Environmental Sciences","value":10}],"country":[{"name":"United States","value":43},{"name":"Germany","value":5},{"name":"Netherlands","value":5}],"status":[{"name":"Ph.D. Student","value":33},{"name":"Post Doc","value":19},{"name":"Researcher (at an Academic Institution)","value":14}]},"issue":"9","pages":"1550-1565","publication_outlet":"Journal of the Atmospheric Sciences","type":"Journal Article","publisher":"AMER METEOROLOGICAL SOC","uuid":"a21076a0-6d0b-11df-afb8-0026b95d30b2","authors":[{"forename":"Y","surname":"Cheng"},{"forename":"V M","surname":"Canuto"},{"forename":"A M","surname":"Howard"}],"title":"An Improved Model for the Turbulent PBL","volume":"59","year":2002,"categories":[119,205,188,210,120],"oa_journal":false,"mendeley_url":"http:\/\/api.mendeley.com\/research\/improved-model-turbulent-pbl\/"}

{"abstract":"Recent observations that include an airborne expendable bathythermograph (AXBT) survey and coincident satellite altimeter measurements together with a high-resolution numerical simulation indicate that the Laccadive High, an anticyclonic circulating feature that forms off the SW coast of India during the NE monsoon, is comprised of multiple eddies. It is hypothesized that in addition to local and remote seasonal forcing, the Laccadive High region is influenced by an intraseasonal signal that originates in the Bay of Bengal.","identifiers":{"issn":"07477309","doi":"10.1029\/1999jd900362"},"stats":{"readers":5,"discipline":[{"id":7,"name":"Earth Sciences","value":80},{"id":5,"name":"Chemistry","value":20}],"country":[{"name":"India","value":20},{"name":"Japan","value":20},{"name":"United Kingdom","value":20}],"status":[{"name":"Ph.D. Student","value":40},{"name":"Post Doc","value":20},{"name":"Researcher (at a non-Academic Institution)","value":20}]},"issue":"C4","pages":"7593-7600","publication_outlet":"Journal of Geophysical Research - Atmospheres","type":"Journal Article","publisher":"AMER GEOPHYSICAL UNION","uuid":"09493710-cd5d-11df-922b-0024e8453de6","authors":[{"forename":"J G","surname":"Bruce"},{"forename":"J C","surname":"Kindle"},{"forename":"L H","surname":"Kantha"},{"forename":"J L","surname":"Kerling"},{"forename":"J F","surname":"Bailey"}],"title":"Recent observations and modeling in the Arabian Sea Laccadive High region","volume":"103","year":1998,"categories":[119,80,120],"oa_journal":false,"mendeley_url":"http:\/\/api.mendeley.com\/research\/recent-observations-modeling-arabian-sea-laccadive-high-region\/"}

{"abstract":"Double-diffusive processes, both of the 'salt fingers' and 'double-diffusive layers' type have been investigated in the laboratory using glycerine-water mixture as the fluid medium. The experiments indicate great disparities in the time scales and some in the length scales of resulting structures, when compared with those using water under identical salinity and sugar contrasts. The results are of interest in fields of science other than physical oceanography, such as geology, where double-diffusive phenomena appear to have their counterparts and could be important in such problems as small-scale mixing in hot viscous bodies of magma.","stats":{"readers":1,"discipline":[{"id":7,"name":"Earth Sciences","value":100}],"country":[{"name":"Faroe Islands","value":100}],"status":[{"name":"Lecturer","value":100}]},"issue":"B8","pages":"4398-4404","publication_outlet":"Journal of Geophysical Research","type":"Journal Article","authors":[{"forename":"L H","surname":"Kantha"}],"title":"A note on the effect of viscosity on double-diffusive processes","volume":"85","year":1980,"oa_journal":false,"uuid":"55f46089-07e4-48df-8b37-5553d7cb3a18","mendeley_url":"http:\/\/api.mendeley.com\/research\/a-note-on-the-effect-of-viscosity-on-double-diffusive-processes\/"}

{"abstract":"The measurement of hardness of a crystal is important from the engineering, industrial as well as academic point of view. Indentation hardness depends on the crystal structure, nature of bonding and elastic mod- ulus of the crystal which determine plastic resistivity against the dislocation motion. Early work of Daniels and Dunn 1 has paved the way for an explanation of hardness anisotropy based on the Schmid law for slip. Several extensions and alternative methods have been added since then.","stats":{"readers":1,"discipline":[{"id":11,"name":"Engineering","value":100}],"country":[{"name":"United States","value":100}],"status":[{"name":"Ph.D. Student","value":100}]},"issue":"12","pages":"1371-1373","publication_outlet":"Journal of Materials Science Letters","type":"Journal Article","uuid":"43547d90-6d0c-11df-936c-0026b95e484c","authors":[{"forename":"B Kantha","surname":"Reddy"},{"forename":"M","surname":"Nagabhooshanam"}],"title":"Hardness Anisotropy Studies in KBr:Ba2+ crystals","volume":"6","year":1987,"categories":[192],"oa_journal":false,"mendeley_url":"http:\/\/api.mendeley.com\/research\/hardness-anisotropy-studies-kbr-ba2-crystals\/"}
